Taking bread up and bodies back down.
Up the top we met a man who has been living on Maungakawa since he was born. He was really old and he said he could remember the old postman telling him stories about what it was like when the Te Waikato Sanitorium was here. He said that he would bring the mail and the bread up and take the bodies back down the hill.
The man that we met showed us the old road that everyone used to use before the new road was put in.
